Who we are

Coming from a UK military family, I had the privilege of living in various different European countries, while visiting many others, in my youth. This opened me up to a world of different cuisines and, more importantly, different breads!

When I met my wonderful Bee Branch based husband and moved here, I was shocked by just how long bread lasted in our cupboard and knew there had to be something ‘not-so-nice’ included to make it last so long. The last straw came when I rediscovered a loaf of bread at the back on a cupboard, that had been there since we moved in, without a single blemish or hint of mold on it.

With two small children, I knew I needed to do better for them. So, having never really baked bread before, I set about testing and refining some sourdough recipes to help them on their journey to good food choices.

I began to make more, and started bringing them into work where they were getting a very eager reception. A few colleagues suggested that I try selling it and Mila Bakery was born!
